| Loading files into stack |
[09 Nov 2009|03:41pm] |
The problem: I know how to make animated icons and never had any problems with that, but I've never done animations from cinema scenes, you know, like this one,so I've found this outstanding tutorial. It says wordy this: "Now that you have your images capped, open up Photoshop and FILE>SCRIPTS>LOAD FILES INTO STACK"
I've found this option in my Photoshop CS3 extended, but when I click on this function, Photoshop just failed down!! I've tried that 8 times, and every time it's just failed, without any error message. So,any thoughts what's that and how to solve that problem?

| Text problem |
[09 Nov 2009|03:47pm] |
I've had this problem for several weeks now and I'm getting really pissed. My photoshop (elements 5) puts HUGE spaces between everyletter like this instead of . So everytime I'm adding some text I have to move every letter by hand to make it look smart. I've tryed to reinstall it several times.
Ideas?

| Paint Shop Pro Error |
[08 Nov 2009|08:14pm] |
Hi. I had to restore my computer a little over a month ago - I reinstalled Corel Paint Shop Pro XI which I had used all the time before and this never used to happen. I think it mostly happens when I drag a picture onto the program, but I think it has came up at other times while I was using the program. It comes up and freezes up Paint Shop and I can't do anything with it. It says:
Runtime Error! Program: ...|Paint Shop Pro Photo XI\Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo.exe R6025 - pure virtual function call
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

| Overlay Effect? |
[08 Nov 2009|02:14pm] |
Hi, I was wondering if I could get an overlay effect like this header: http://www.fanning-love.org/ For instance, how did they do the blue stripes as well as the "shadow" of Elle behind the main image? And what about the blurry white fade out at the bottom? I use GIMP 2.6.7. Thank you. :)

It's been an eventful (and SHORT) weekend.
Friday night I went to my friend Mike's house for dinner and a blu-ray viewing of King Kong. I'd never seen the movie and he loves it so I gave it a shot. ACK. What a long, overdone movie. Also gross. There was one part - with the gigantic bugs and those sucking slug things - where I actually thought I might throw up. It wasn't at all what I expected and not a movie I need to see again.
Saturday, Jason and I drove to Lansing to spend the day with his mother and aunt. We had dinner at his mom's place and, between lunch and a nice dinner out in East Lansing, we went to see The Men Who Stare at Goats. Two thumbs up. For many reasons, I thought it was a Cohen brothers movie but I was wrong. It definitely had that quirky feel (but was so much better than Burn After Reading.) After dinner we drove back to Ann Arbor and had a few drinks out before coming home.
Today started with boot camp and a few hours at the office before I came home to sit out on my lawn with a book. The weather this weekend is incredible. If only this was the start of spring rather than one of the last gorgeous days before MI winter descends. Shortly I'm off to have dinner with my friends Anne & Jill. We're making scallops and final plans for our trip to FL.
Oh, Monday. Why so soon?
I'm trying to make more time to read. It's easy to get distracted by my skee-ball iPhone app but I'd rather spend that time with a book. I just recently finished John Connolly's new book, The Gates and I loved his blend of science with the fantastical so I bought another of his, The Book of Lost Things.
My reading list (in an order I'm certain to switch up): The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly - all for fun! Getting to Yes: Negotiating Agreement Without Giving In by Roger Fisher. This one is required reading for my upcoming negotiation workshop. :/ Start Up Nation: The Story of Israel's Economic Miracle by Saul Singer. This is actually a management book (which I usually hate) but, in the context of Israel, I'm giving it a shot. The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey by Trenton Lee Stewart. I read the first book in this kid's series when I was in Greece and I'm ready to dive into the next.
That's it for now. I'm bringing all of these down to FL in the hopes that I have ample time to spend reading (in the sun on the beach). I should read the negotiation book first but, UGH, who wants to do that???
Off to get ready for dinner!

Have returned to my graphics programs to find that Elements is still tempremental when it comes to adding text, thankfully IrfanView can help me out there, but I'm experimenting with a different layout for preview pictures, one that's easier to get right without Gimp. And I think Gimp is done for, at least in its current version. Starting it up yesterday caused everything to grind to a halt which was remedied only by the laptop's power switch. I will not be venturing back. Despite these setbacks, I managed to produce four more sets of school colours, based on universities in Hong Kong:

Is there a more specific way to modify the titles? I mean, is it possible for me to make changes to one particular title instead of all of them at once?
